Where can I get a Roadworthy Certificate in Geelong?

BJT Automotive is a roadworthy certificate provider in Geelong, ensuring the cars on our roads are safe. Often people aren’t exactly sure what is involved when it comes to issuing a roadworthy certificate.

If you are selling a vehicle or needing to re-register a vehicle, then a roadworthy certificate is required. When a roadworthy is carried out, the following things are thoroughly checked over:

  • wheels and tyres
  • steering, suspensions and braking systems
  • seats and seatbelts
  • lights and reflectors
  • windscreen, and windows including front wipers and washers
  • vehicle structure
  • other safety related items on the body, chassis or engine.

A roadworthy inspection is not a full mechanical inspection of the overall condition of the vehicle, but rather an inspection of the safety related items, as specified by VicRoads, in order to make sure the car is at an acceptable and safe standard to be on the road.  If you are wanting to know if a vehicle is mechanically sound and its overall condition, you would need to arrange a separate vehicle inspection such as a pre-purchase vehicle inspection.

How long is a certificate valid?

Once a vehicle has passed a roadworthy inspection, the certificate is valid for 30 days from the date of issue.

If you are in the Belmont or Geelong area and need a roadworthy certificate then book online or contact BJT Automotive today.
