Roadworthy Certificate Geelong

April 22, 2020

If you are in need of a roadworthy certificate in Geelong then BJT Automotive are licenced roadworthy inspectors. Often people are unsure of exactly what is involved in a roadworthy inspection and assume their car will pass an inspection as it ‘runs fine’! There is more to an inspection than just how well the engine runs.

A RWC is a safety check to ensure that the vehicle is safe to be on the road. There are many items that have to be checked in order to pass the inspection and these are determined by VicRoads (for Victorian certificates – there are some variances in the RWC process for each State). The items are:

  • wheels and tyres
  • steering and suspension
  • brakes and brake performance
  • parking brake
  • seats and seat belts
  • lamps, signals and reflectors
  • exhaust and emission controls
  • windscreen and windows
  • windscreen wipers, washers
  • body and chassis
  • engine and driveline
  • modifications

It can take some time for the roadworthy certificate in Geelong inspection to be thoroughly carried out, particularly on older vehicles that have more wear and tear. Once the inspection has been carried out we take several required photographs of the vehicle and then complete the report. If all items are satisfactory the certificate is marked as a pass and is valid for 30 days thereafter. If some of the items don’t meet the required standard then it is deemed a fail and you then have 7 days to rectify the items and represent the car for a second inspection.

If you are selling a vehicle and require a roadworthy certificate then contact us and we can carry out the inspection for you.
